the vision of connecting San Marcos to the rest of Hays County via trails in natural areas and along river and creek corridors. This is your opportunity to voice support for projects such as connecting San Marcos to the Walk for a Day Trail along the Blanco River. Connections such as this can promote our overall health and fitness and ensure quality of life for Hays County citizens, tourists, and businesses by providing additional recreational activities and alternative forms of transportation (take a hike or bike to work!). Voice your support for habitat corridors and increased flood safety, water quality/quantity, and access. A complete list of meetings and topics is available at www.co.hays.tx.us/ParksMasterPlan.

Come meet and greet us at lower Purgatory Creek Natural Area this Sunday, April 3, from 2-4 pm. We will be at the Learning Tree (enter from Prospect St. and hike to the end of the walking trail shown on this map). Learn more about who we are and what we do. Or, if you already know about SMGA, stop by to visit and catch-up. Hope to see you there!

After watering the Burr Oak we walked up slope to the Harvey Bench to enjoy the 'window' in the vegetation looking out over the meadow. It is a great spot. Steve was a good friend and a good servant to our community. That particular location is delightful all through the day, from the crack of dawn on a summer morning when you may see some low lying fog to just before sunset when the orange and purple end of the spectrum washes over the east view with shadow and bold colors. The bench is just right. It will be there for a long time. If you happen to venture out to catch that sunrise think of Steve Harvey and the sublime grace of creation. It is good to know that many will feel that joy through the years to come...t.o.d., Feb 27, 2011
